Zach Redpath - 1st Degree Black Belt, Dan No. A14505 / DS97-A5-11
Zach is a soft spoken student with a very relaxed personality. But if emotions get high when the punches and kicks are flying, he stands up to the challenge. Zach is a friend to everyone and is always ready to help another student with a technique.
Primary art: Tang Soo Do
Specialty: Side Kicks
AKA: Endurance
Zach is another of our most commited and dedicated students. He rarely misses class and is ready to work hard every day, often the first student to break a sweat. It's tough to find another student who can work harder than Zach does in class.
Zach frequently attends Belt Testing to lend a hand in the events and to show support to our lower ranks and younger studnets. He is a very good leader by example.
Offensive Jumping Turn Kick. It's one of our hardest moves, but also one of the most flashy. Becasue of the far rotation, you have to get high on the jump to maximize it.
Favorite Technique:
Jet Li. He's a great martial artist and all his moves look so real on screen.
Favorite Karate Movie Star:
Kiss of the Dragon. Jet Li has a lot of great fights in that movie and it's packed with action.
Favorite Karate Movie:
I love our Meter Drills where our kicking shield has a meter attached that measures the force of impact. Accuracy, technique, speed, and follow through can be just as big a factor as power.
I don't really remember. I think I was just looking for something to do one year and we decided to try karate and I fell in love with it. I've trained for so many years, I must like it.
When did you first want to learn Karate?
Just trying something new and next thing you know...
Something You Love About Karate:
Featured Black Belts
Karate has taught me so much and helped me grow as a person. It has made me stronger physically and made me stronger inside, too. It has taught me about not giving up, working to improve whatever I am doing and much more. And I have made lots of friends at American Karate Academy.
