I've missed karate for short times before with a broken bone (not from karate, ironically) and to participate in other sports but I always come back to my karate. I have been in karate for 7 years and every minute I have spent in the studio has made me a better Black Belt and better athlete in my other sports. I am the oldest of three lovely children. My brother and I are 14 months apart and, yes, he is also a Black Belt at American Karate Academy. His name is Matthew. After you read the rest of my page please take a look at his page! I also have a 3 year old sister. My parents are the best! They have been along side me and my brother for all 7 years! I couldn’t have made it this far without the support of my parents!
Offensive Jumping Turn Kick. It's super-hard! Although I can’t jump as well as I'd like, I like how I must spin in the air while I jump. To me it just gives me this feeling like, "This is so awesome!!"
Favorite Technique:
My favorite karate movie star is Bruce Lee. I like him because he actually knew martial arts and he wasn’t some fake person doing fake martial arts. He was all real. I also like the way he yells.
Favorite Karate Movie Star:
My favorite karate movie is Rush Hour. I love that movie because it’s very funny and there’s a lot of fighting with Jackie Chan in it. It’s a great movie!
Favorite Karate Movie:
I love all the friends I've made and all the new things I'm always learning about myself in the more things we do in class.
Well when I found out that we were going to do karate I was very excited! I started karate when I was in 2nd grade. I felt like I was going to be one of those cool karate movie stars! Who knows? Maybe someday you'll be watching MY movies!
When did you first want to learn Karate?
I wanted to learn it because I thought it was going to be so much fun and sure enough it was! Now that I am older I also realized that it help me with my being shy and my confidence. Since I learned karate it has taught me discipline and helped me with my confidence. I am also not as shy as I once was!
Why did you want to learn Karate?
Karate doesn’t just help with attitude and discipline. It also helps with other sports. I didn’t start team sports until I was in 6th grade. My first team sport was softball. I also play volleyball and will be trying out for my high school team for softball and volleyball team very soon. Just the other night I was playing in a softball game and I did 2 splits, one at first base to catch the runner out and the other at third base because I over ran. I would not be able to do that without my karate. Another benefit to karate, there is no end. It will always be there for you. Other sports will end their season, but karate is a lifestyle you can stick with.

My future plans: I do not want to go to college in Louisiana. My plan for right now is to go to college in Hawaii and maybe play volleyball for the university. It would be my greatest dream to become a professional volleyball player, but if all is lost in that area I plan to become a plastic surgeon. I'll be studying to be a doctor in college anyway, so I'll be ready. It will take a while to accomplish it but with the discipline I have learned from karate I believe I can achieve my most imaginable dreams.

My name is Ryan Hamilton, and I am 14 years old. I received my Black Belt on June 26, 2006. I was very proud and excited that I was only 13 years old and had accomplished things that not even some adults could accomplish!
